Most people are not very familiar with how taxes and national
finance work. The truth is our taxes are too often used to
finance public projects which cause massive financial deficits
and environmental destruction, and which increase the burdens
of our children. If we are to realize a fair and sustainable
ecological society, we must correct such distortions. It is
doubly important that public funds be actively utilized to
solve environmental problems, because it is much more difficult
to control activities of private funds.
In light of this situation, the main object of this program
is to inform as many citizens and NGOs as possible about the
problems in existing tax and financial systems, and to promote
awareness and corrective action by a variety of sectors through
research papers, study groups and seminars. Another aim of
the Program is to develop concrete and fair policy proposals
to balance economic activity with the environment.
The program promotes these goals among policy makers, the
NGO community and members of the public through publication
of research, organization of study groups and seminars, as
well as consultations with legislators, government officials
and industry representatives.
