Monitoring of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project (Bangladesh)

Bangladesh lays in the downstream of the Jamuna, the Padma and the Meghna rivers. Hence many IFIs have been lending a helping hand in the construction of bridges in Bangladesh. The Padma Multipurpose Bridge construction plan was formulated to provide convenient access to the southwestern parts by building a bridge on the Padma river. However, like other bridge construction projects in Bangladesh, it is feared that there will be negative environmental and social impact due to the construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project.
